EU "deeply regrets" verdict for Tymoshenko

European Union (EU) through the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Catherine Ashton said it was "great regret" the seven-year prison sentence for former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. "The trial of Tymoshenko does not respect international law standards and far from being fair and transparent, and independent," Ashton said in a statement.

Ukraine's Yulia Tymoshenko court sentenced the defendant convicted of a violation because the contractual agreement between the Ukrainian gas with Russia in 2009. Countries, according to the court, aggrieved 190 million U.S. dollars. "Tymoshenko also proved a waste of public money," added the court.
Yulia Tymoshenko, as the Xinhua news on Tuesday (10/11/2011), have 15 days to appeal.
