Identity trackers Latest from the FBI

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will enable the use of software data tracking criminals by facial identity. This is an overhaul of the FBI's fingerprint database program worth 1 billion U.S. dollars.

Programs that became effective in mid-January next year that allows local police track down fugitives across the United States more quickly and accurately. Other biometric markers, such as iris scans and voice recordings, will also be published in an updated database of criminals.

Software to track the identity of the face is expected to help law enforcement track down criminal suspects data more quickly and accurately

The FBI hopes the program, named Nextgov can help police solve cases that had been unresolved because of lack of information on the identity of criminals. The program allows law enforcement officers to pull data of criminal suspects and sorted them into the nearest data based on an existing photo ID.

During this time the FBI agents need to track the suspects name the data by using data of 10 million photos stored on the network suspects Fingerprint Identification System Integrated FBI. With the latest generation identification system, investigators can upload photos and get a row of data close to the identity of the suspect within 15 minutes.

The trial use of the software will be in place in Michigan, Washington, Florida, and North Carolina in the winter of this year before it is offered to law enforcement officials across the U.S. in 2014.
